U.S. Supreme Court Orders Release of $2 Billion in Foreign Aid

In a closely contested decision on Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration must release approximately $2 billion in foreign aid payments to nonprofit humanitarian organizations. The funds, previously frozen under an administrative order, were allocated for completed humanitarian projects in Nigeria and other nations.

The 5–4 ruling saw Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett siding with the liberal justices to support the relief organizations. However, the decision did not provide detailed reasoning, instead directing the district court judge to clarify the government's obligations regarding the disbursement of the funds.
